In Ontario, the fully integrated Guelph beef facility employs over 820 employees and processes 1,800 head of cattle per day, while the Guelph Case Ready facility has over 600 employees.  In Quebec, the Chambly Case Ready facility has over 500 employees serving national retailers and food service customers. Cargill operates five Canadian facilities located in Ontario, Alberta and Quebec. In Alberta, the High River plant is a fully integrated beef processing facility where over 2,300 employees process 4500 head of cattle per day, and the Calgary Case Ready facility has over 350 employees serving national retailers and food service customers. 
  
The Assistant Human Resources Manager will be located at the Dunlop facility and will have oversight of Labour Relations, training and development, hourly and salaried recruitment, payroll, HR reporting, HR compliance and other projects as assigned.  This position requires a high level of organization, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines.   
 
Principal Accountabilities:
 
40% -   Employee Relations: answer questions on policies, procedures/programs, assist with attendance management program, grievances and employee discipline. 
 
15% -   Involved in the ongoing development and implementation of new policies, programs and initiatives including delivering training programs. 
15% -   Supervision of direct reports including performance management and career development.
10% -   Oversee payroll function including payroll compliance, review of weekly payroll audits, and back up approver for pay inputs.
10% -   Recruitment and Retention: Oversight over the hiring process and assist as needed.
10% -   HR Reporting: produce, maintain and distribute HR information and statistics including turnover data, engagement survey data and other HR metrics as required.
Required:
  • Bachelors degree and/or college diploma in Human Resources and/or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in an HR related field (i.e. generalist, recruitment, employee relations).  
  • Strong back ground and proven track record in Labour Relations, communication and people skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels. 
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, educate and empower others in a positive and productive team environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters. 
  • Demonstrated track record in promoting an inclusive environment and seeking ways to integrate differences. 
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and as a member of a team. 
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada 
Preferred:
 
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • CHRP Certification
  • 5-10 years’ experience in an HR related field.  
  • Previous supervisor experience
  • Strong background in labour relations
  • PeopleSoft knowledge
  • KRONOS knowledge
