Qualifications:
University Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
Enrolled in the CMA, CGA or CPA Program and progressing towards an accounting designation

Experience:
3+ years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

• Strong attention to detail and persistence in resolving issues and discrepancies
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment
• Advanced Excel user and proficient with other MS office programs
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and be a dedicated team player

Job purpose:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for the accounting, month end & year end activities, and reporting activities for the Windsor-area facility.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide analytical support to the business units
• Weekly result reporting against budget and standards
• Investigate and report manufacturing variances (overhead, labour, yields)
• Update daily efficiencies
• Assist in annual budgeting process
• Plays a key role in the period end & year end close process
• Prepares journal entries, analyze data and explain variances
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure controls are in place
• Complies with reporting procedures and creates ad hoc reports to support the business units
