Job Description

The Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (CSFM) is an interdisciplinary team of investigators, researchers, and administrative staff (approximately 50 members at present) recognized The CSFM's research is based on the principles of patient-centered care, and takes place in three contexts: clinical care; the community; and the health care system. The Diabetes Program of Research at the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (CSFM) includes clinical trials, participatory and translational research, and population, based and information technology health research, all with a focus on the prevention or optimal treatment of diabetes.

The Clinical Trial Research Assistant is an integral part of the Clinical Trial Group (CTG) of the Diabetes Program.  The Research Assistant, working collaboratively with others in the CTG, will support the Clinical Trial Program Coordinator to implement investigator-initiated and industry sponsored randomized controlled trials through all trial phases.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   Undergraduate university degree in a clinical discipline (Nursing, Health or Medical Sciences, etc.) or equivalent education (Nursing diploma)
-   Diploma/Certificate in Clinical Trials Management is preferred
 
Experience:
-   3 years' previous clinical trial research experience
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Phlebotomy experience is required; Certification of Venipuncture is preferred
-   Completion of the Good Clinical Practice procedures certificate is required (can be obtained on the job)
-   Demonstrated experience with processing and storage of blood
-   Demonstrated experience with research ethics processes and familiarity with privacy issues
-   Diabetes clinical research experience is preferred
-   Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-   Creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidentiality and guidelines in conducting research
-   Professional manner, tact, and diplomacy
-   Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
-   Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
-   Outstanding interpersonal skills
-   Proven ability to work independently and as a team partner
-   Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to pick up new skills quickly are essential
