London Machinery Inc. is an international leader in the manufacture of concrete transit mixers with sales and servicing of refuse equipment, as well as sales of CON-E-CO® batch plants. We are currently accepting resumes by email only for the above captioned position;


SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the overall operations of a production line (Paint Department) to meet both internal and external customers’ needs. These tasks range from daily monitoring of resources to long-term planning for continuous improvement. Supervisors are responsible for meeting quality and productivity goals while operating within budget.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position general responsibilities are as follows:
  1. Manage department materials, workflow, staffing, and equipment to maximize production output
  2. Ensure departmental training is complete on a timely basis (safety, product specific, quality, etc.)
  3. Supervise department physical inventory process to ensure accuracy and correct the process as needed
  4. Administer company policies, practices, and contractual obligations
  5. Complete performance appraisals of department employees as required
  6. Monitor employee conduct and deliver discipline in accordance with company guidelines
  7. Control expenses by submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, implement corrective action
  8. Implement systems, policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
  9. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organizational standards
  10. Use problem-solving skills to resolve various types of conflict in the workplace
  11. Operate computer programs daily to complete tasks
  12. Follow and give verbal and written work instructions
  13. Ensure quality and customer service standards are being met
  14. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with and enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
  15. Regular attendance required
  16. Supervise small parts painting and major components; using "two part" automotive finishes to exacting standards of finish and colour. There are three (3) large paint booths and one (1) paint line. These modern facilities all have extensive electrical, natural gas, electronic and computer controls.
  17. Preferred Qualification: Able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge regarding the painting of heavy construction machinery to exacting "automotive" quality standards. Have a comprehensive knowledge of all areas of painting operations. Experienced in the application of catalyzed or polymerized paints; the operation of equipment to prepare and apply paint; the use and maintenance of spray guns in the application of protective and decorative coatings; touch-up; paint drying ovens; preparation and application of stencils, decals or other decorative items on finished equipment, as required.
  18. Knowledge of 5S; Behavioural Based Safety, GEMBA, and other associated management principles, as well as a comprehensive understanding of current health and safety legislation as applicable for Ontario, Canada
  19. All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned

 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment
     
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical or Associate’s degree
  • 2 plus years of experience in a leadership role
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Previous Lean Manufacturing Training
