Strathroy-Caradoc… Urban Opportunity, Rural Hospitality

The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc’s Building and Planning Department is currently accepting applications for one (1) full-time “Senior Development Coordinator.”

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Building and Planning, this position assists in managing larger, highly complex planning assignments. This position will be responsible for managing the follow through for various types of land use development applications, from the application to agreement / assumption stage, as well as co-ordinating the internal technical evaluation of applications and general assistance to the land use planning function of the department.

As a member of the Municipal team, each employee is responsible for serving the citizens of Strathroy-Caradoc by meeting the ratepayers’ needs and expectations, as articulated by Council, by striving to be the best in everything we do through attitude, training and creativity, and for representing the Municipality as a strong, integrated organization dedicated to quality, sustainable and viable services.

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a Planning, Engineering, or related field.
  • Three to Five years of experience in both rural and urban development approval in a municipal setting.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current membership in the Canadian Institute of Planning and the Ontario professional Planning Institute, along with a Registered Professional Planner designation would be an asset.
  • Must demonstrate strong working knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act and related Acts, regulations, Provincial Policy and planning processes, engineering standards, best practices, and the OHSA.
  • Extensive experience in delivering complex development applications with minimal direction, while balancing political, community and other stakeholder interests.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints, drawings, and survey information.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information in order to solve less well-defined planning problems with limited guidance.
  • Ability to meet strict timelines and focus on shifting priorities as needed.
  • Excellent organization ability, oral communication, and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional, Illustrator, InDesign, image editing software, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Demonstrate high level of customer service and proficiency in conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Community Improvement Program (CIP) legislation, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Must have a valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s licence with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 prior to starting employment.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check prior to starting employment.

Compensation:
Wage:            Band 6 - $70,642.91 - $88,303.64
