Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for the planning, development, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western's campus community. FM works closely with campus partners to coordinate new construction and renovation projects as well as to complete maintenance, preventative maintenance and service requests. Our integrated Team provides excellence in creating and maintaining Western's facilities and in serving the community. 
 
The Painter is responsible for skilled work associated with painting, tinting, spraying booth, refinishing, taping, finishing, glazing, glass replacements, plaster repairs and other related areas and reporting additional maintenance or repair needs.  In addition, the incumbent provides efficient and courteous service to customers and support to co-workers in the delivery of these services.  
 
Qualifications 
Education:
-   Fully qualified and maintain a current Certificate of Qualification for a Painter recognized by the Province of Ontario. 
-   Current valid WHMIS and MOL-Approved Working at Heights Training Standard
 
Experience:
-   5 years' painting experience in the commercial, residential, or industrial construction and maintenance field
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Comprehensive knowledge of the current version of building code requirements
-   In-depth understanding of tools, principles, materials, and terminology associated with the Painter trade
-   Comprehensive knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the Painting trade
-   Must possess a Valid Ontario Drivers Licence
-   Must possess current First Aid Certificate including CPR
-   Basic understanding of other trades
-   Ability to investigate, identify, analyze, document information in written or electronic form and resolve problems
-   Lift and transport materials, bend, climb, and reach repetitively
-   Work in confined spaces or in areas containing designated substances found within OH&S Act
-   Organize and order work materials, tools and support staff in the shop and on the job site
-   Conduct work in a manner that complies with department procedures
-   Interpret and work from electronic/written operation instruction sheets and mechanical and electrical drawings
-   Perform tasks in emergency situations
-   Work in a team environment with minimal supervision
-   Able to interact with others in positive ways which develop mutual understanding, respect and productive relationships
