Mechanical Design Specialist – Hull Structures

A growing and stable South Western Ontario client of ours is looking for a Mechanical Design Specialist, Hull Structures

Range for this role is $28.00/hr to $33.00/hr

Required Qualifications

• University degree/College diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technologist
• 3 years’ experience in design and manufacturing of large steel weldments
• Previous experience in mechanical designs and principles of Engineering trade-offs
• Good analytical and problem solving skills
• Applied knowledge of welding technologies, materials properties and selection as applicable to large metallic structures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Proven ability to integrate into high performing multifunctional team
• Proven ability in multitasking and ability to work with minimum supervision
• Effective communication skills, verbal and written


Job Responsibilities

• Develop, release and maintain Technical Data Pack for hull welded structure and similar systems for all vehicles and all programs
• Integrate and maintain other sub-system design team’s welded components to the hull structure
• Support P&D, PA and SCM in their effort to procure and manufacture hull structure components and assemblies
• Support internal tests, mockups and evaluations of newly developed systems
• Actively cooperate with the Project Engineering to arrive to optimum design trade-off solutions
• Support P&D and resolve Production issues in timely manner
• Keep abreast with the technological advancements in structural design and welding technologies as applicable to LAV family of vehicles

Preferred Qualifications

• B. Sc Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in UG environment
• Proficiency in GD&T principles and application

Candidates who are registered with PEO or are actively pursuing their P.Eng designation would be preferred, but not required.
