Position Summary:  To ensure the safe and effective operation and maintenance of industrial equipment such as boilers, steam and gas turbines, generators, gas and diesel internal combustion engines, pumps etc.  Analyze problems and takes action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems.  Solid understanding of refrigeration in the frozen food production industry.

Key Contributions & Responsibilities

• Ensures the efficient operation of equipment, motors, engines and control devices (boilers, turbines, generators and compressors.)
• Identifying problems, solutions and repair when problem occur
• Tracking maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery
• Uses computerized systems to control, start, shut down and track the operation of boilers and related equipment or uses automatic or manual controls
• Monitors alarms, gauges and other instruments associated with plant operations
• Trouble shoots and takes corrective action to prevent equipment or system failures
• Ensures preventative maintenance program is followed and documented according to standards
• Ensures the equipment and processes operate to maximum efficiency
• Monitoring and directing equipment through automated computerized control systems
• Design, installation and alteration of systems and system components
• Implementation of process improvement initiatives
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery
• Equipment installation, overhaul, repair, customizing and modifying parts
• Interprets and follows layout plans, blueprints, schematic drawings to determine work procedures
• Dismantles machines, constructs foundations for machines, aligns machines and equipment, assembles machines
• Operates power equipment such as lathe, lift trucks, hoists, conveyors, power tools, turn machine parts
• Installation of robotics and modification of programs
• Fabricating machinery and other equipment
• Construction of foundations for equipment
• General maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery
• Welding
• Trouble shoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, some electrical equipment
• Build / construct or accurately fabricate parts, shapes, mechanisms and assemble to meet specifications
• Read engineering drawings and blue prints
• Prepare written reports, complete forms and documents
• Operate mechanical refrigeration / compressor and boiler plants

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Refrigeration "B" Class Operator's license (would be preferred) OR 3rd Class Power Engineering (Red Seal)

3-5 years in food production industry
