Hanwha L&C Canada, a division of Hanwha Living & Creative Corporation is owned by the Hanwha Group, a global Fortune 500 Company and one of Korea’s largest industrial corporations with 30 affiliated companies and more than $30 billion in annual revenues.      Our new facility in London, Ontario, represents the first of a two-phase North American expansion plan for Hanwha and our HanStone product line. HanStone is an innovative new product that combines natural quartz with high quality ingredients to produce a durable yet luxurious stone surface that is used in kitchen countertops, vanities, as well as for commercial applications.

We are looking to build our leadership team with individuals who are committed to creating a positive work environment based on trust, respect and innovation.  Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in fully automated high tech industry, chemical manufacturing industry as well as plant start up. 

The Development Engineer is responsible for resolving quality and production issues from our customers and vendors as well as focusing on future research and development of formulations and product improvements.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Recommend ideas for new products, plan for development and implement plan for product launch
  • Liaise with equipment manufacturer to gather new technological information
  • Gather market research and act as liaison to gather information on product issues, customer preferences and to forecast future preferences and product demand
  • Direct the lab experiments for new colours and products and coordinate the implmentation of successful products into the production process
  • Forecast final products' specifications through the lab test results
  • Investigate new sources for raw materials and apply lean practices to increase  the efficiency of our production and/or decrease our costs
  • Responsible for documenting, supporting and training for new process and new product changes
  • Research and educate peers on competition activity and product changes

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Chemical Engineering degree / diploma
  • 5 + years experience with solid surfaces or  in a chemical manufacturing environment is required
  • Previous experience in a research and development role
  • Superior written documentation, verbal communication and presentation skills
