We are small, tight knit team with big hustle with intent on disrupting small business e-commerce providing solutions across search, mobile and logistics nation-wide. We’re focusing on fast, lean and scrappy execution of an ambitious business model.

Job Description

Locorum is looking for a part-time software engineer to oversee all internal software development and systems. You will be responsible for developing the technical strategy that aligns with the business goals of the company. Day to day you will be in charge of managing all technical aspects and resources of the organization to ensure they are in line with the company’s business model and growth targets. You will directly manage a team of software developers and guide the team on overall architecture of infrastructure, functionality and efficiency.

Locorum is currently running a pilot project in London, ON to test market feasibility. We have run this for the last 3 months and know exactly what we need to create for a viable product in the market. We are dealing with new technology as well as bringing together multiple existing solutions to function seamlessly together. You need to be excited about investigating new technology and challenging the status quo.

To fit this role, you must be comfortable in a fast-paced, scrappy start-up environment with previous experience leading and developing teams. The right candidate is energetic, knowledgeable, creative and passionate. You are a software architect that can see the big picture and is comfortable managing multiple projects at once. You see the value in developing people and building a strong team with diverse skillsets. You are a self-motivated individual and excel at creative problem solving. You bring to the table multiple years of experience and previous hands-on experience as a developer. App and finance software development is an asset.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee development of all technical aspects supporting product development
  • Provide insight and recommendations on industry and technology trends
  • Initiate and participate in creating, discovering and implementing relevant technologies
  • Act as a team lead for the development team
  • Create overarching development framework, programming language and structure with milestones in line with our business goals
  • Identify and monitor KPI’s
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Oversee database structure and maintenance
  • Communicate with shareholders and partners

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a team leader in IT
  • Ability to see big picture perspective that covers software development, infrastructure and operations
  • Indepth knowledge of software development (finance, database mgmt. & apps are an asset)
  • Ability to conduct analysis and research
  • Strong understanding of mobile development
  • Understanding of experience with ecommerce flows including payments, returns, logistics
  • Strong understanding and ability to work with: PHP, Liquid, CSS, HTML, Laravel, Java, Python, Ruby and React
  • Previous experience with SR&ED is an asset
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Leadership and organizational abilities
  • Strategic thinking and creative problem solving
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or related field

About the Role:

The company is seeking a part-time CTO for 2 days/week starting immediately, with the intention of moving to a full-time position by 2022 (or earlier.)

Starting Salary is $70k/year pro-rated for part time hours.
