Position: Adult Fitness Supervisor
Location: Jerry McCaw Family Centre YMCA (1015 Finch Drive, Sarnia, ON N7S 6G5)
Start Date: April 8th, 2024
Compensation: $40,000-$43,000 starting annual salary
Schedule:
• 40 hrs/week with flexible schedule able to work a range of shifts that might include early mornings, evenings and weekends)
• 8 hour workday
• Occasionally required to rotate shifts that cover the full hours of operation of the centre.

About the Role
Nature and Scope:
Reporting to the General Manager, this position provides supervision and coaching to members, staff and volunteers within the health and Wellness programs and service areas ensuring program excellence. The core function of this position is program planning and implementation, customer service, staff and volunteer recruitment, training and performance management.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the development, scheduling and delivery of Health and Wellness, Group Fitness programs and member engagement activities
• Recruitment, training, and mentoring of all staff and volunteer team members for the purpose of delivering excellence in customer service through Health and Wellness programs and services.
• Development and maintenance of the Health and Wellness budget
• Maintenance of current status of all required qualifications and certifications for self and Health and Wellness team members using internal and/ or central data tools
• Works as an active member of the Branch Leadership Team with scheduled Team Leader shifts/ responsibilities
• Provide direct leadership in programs modeling/ mentoring service excellence.
• Ensures that program policies and procedures are implemented and monitored proactively.

Education and Skills Qualifications:
• Group Fitness Instructor certification with the ability to teach multiple styles of group classes including: aquafit, cycle, bootcamp, stretch, chair, and more.
• YMCA Group Fitness Leadership Certification an asset
• 2 years post secondary education in Physical and Health Education or related field, or 2 years related experience.
• Current First Aid/CPR.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Personal training certificate is an asset.
• MOSSA certification is an asset.
• Must provide current police check as per the Association’s policy.
• It is a YMCA of Southwestern Ontario requirement that all employees and volunteers have a minimum of two vaccinations against COVID-19. Exemptions will be granted upon receipt of acceptable proof of a permissible Human Rights Code ground. This requirement has been suspended effective June 30, 2022. It may be reinstated in future should the state of public health in our communities require it.
