THE POSITION                    
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that exceed all applicable, Federal, Provincial, and Municipal environmental health and safety legislation, regulations and requirements and industry best practices
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental policies, procedures, planning, and auditing within the framework of ISO 14001 and comply with all applicable environmental reporting requirements
  • Inform management of any actual or potential non-compliance issues; develop and implement action plans to address issues
  • Assisting with data collection for EHS statistics, internal audits analysis, key performance metrics, supplier information, and departmental cost deployment presentations, including participation in daily Safety and Environmental review meetings with applicable Plant teams
  • Facilitate the successful functioning of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and ISO 14001 Committee
  • Research and deliver innovative training and development programs to promote environmental awareness and workplace health and safety.
  • Participate and complete safety incident investigation process, corrective actions and reporting
  • Respond to environmental, waste management and environmental emergency inquiries and tasks.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures supporting the quality management system, environmental management system and health and safety
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU OFFER
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental health and safety role in a manufacturing environment
  • University degree or college diploma or equivalent
  • Development of training materials and presentations
  • Quick starter with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage workload and work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and facilitation skills
  • Strong computer skills.  Proficient in excel and PowerPoint.
  • WSIB JHSC Part 1 and Part 2 certification
