LOCATION

The Township of Adelaide Metcalfe is located on the west side of the County of Middlesex situated along the 402 Highway corridor. Adelaide Metcalfe is about a 30-minute drive from either the City of London, or City of Sarnia. The Township serves a population of approximately 3000 people.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

Under the general direction of the Public Works Manager/Lead Hand, the Equipment Operator provides a variety of duties in connection with road and sidewalk maintenance, construction, snow removal and equipment and facility maintenance. This position will assist other departments of the Township when needed, including Water, Wastewater, Cemeteries, and Park activities. This position will be required to work evenings and weekends as required.

WHAT WE OFFER

The hourly range for this position is $25.75 to $30.13 per hour with a 40-hour work week, with evenings and weekends as required.

The Township offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in the OMERS pension program.

Equipment Operators subject to on-call are compensated through the Township’s On-Call Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Secondary school graduate or equivalent with two (2) years of experience in construction or municipal road works, including snow removal experience.
• Must hold a minimum DZ license and must have a clear Driver’s Abstract.
• Chain saw certification.
• Grader and backhoe experience.
• Traffic Control Training.
• First Aid, CPR and WHMIS certification training.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Most work is performed outdoors when maintaining and constructing municipal infrastructure or road works operations. Will be required to work in inclement weather conditions.
• Normal work is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Evening and/or weekend work will be required at times. This position is on call for responding to weather related road conditions and emergency requests.
