Intervenor-Educational Assistant Permanent, Full-Time DATE OF VACANCY: As soon as possible RATE OF PAY: starting rate is $26.77 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay (35 hours per week) APPLICATION DEADLINE: 2025 November 27 Position Summary: The EA Intervenor supports students who are deaf/blind. The Intervenor mediates between students who are deaf/blind and their environment to enable them to communicate effectively with and receive non-distorted information from the world around them. In addition, the EA Intervenor assists the students in accessing the curriculum and academic, social, and physical environment, ensuring the student’s safety. Educational Assistants provide support to students with a variety of special needs including physical, developmental and behavioural. Educational Assistants work with children with special needs in a classroom setting, either in an integrated mainstream classroom or in a contained classroom. Candidates must also be able to perform the essential physical duties of the position to support our children with special needs, which may include toileting, lifting, transferring, and personal care. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment. Position Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized Intervenor training program (or experience as an Intervenor with training from Canadian Deafblind Association – Ontario Chapter (CDBA) or the Deafblind Ontario Services (DBOS) is required, along with a diploma or degree in the following programs:
